My Story

Every chapter shaped me. Every challenge strengthened me.

My Journey

My story did not begin with human trafficking.

Like many survivors, my life included experiences that shaped the way I viewed the world long before I understood the dangers that would later come into my life.

In 2011, I survived an explosion in Spain.

Years later, in 2018, I lost my father.

I also experienced childhood trauma and sexual abuse, experiences that affected my sense of safety, trust, and belonging.

Looking back, I can see how difficult experiences can make someone more vulnerable to manipulation, isolation, and exploitation.

The Opportunity I Thought Would Change Everything

What seemed like a dream opportunity eventually became one of the most difficult chapters of my life.

At first, I believed I was pursuing a future I had worked hard for. I trusted people, believed promises, and focused on reaching goals that meant everything to me.

Over time, things changed.

The reality became very different from what I believed it would be.

What I once saw as opportunity slowly became a situation that left me feeling trapped, isolated, controlled, and afraid.

Human trafficking does not always look like the stereotypes people see in movies.

It is not always kidnapping.

It is not always chains.

Sometimes it looks like trust. Sometimes it looks like dependence. Sometimes it looks like fear. Sometimes it looks like believing you have nowhere else to go.

After Escaping

Leaving does not automatically mean healing.

Recovery has been one of the hardest journeys of my life.

Like many survivors, I struggled with questions, grief, confusion, fear, and trauma.

I also faced significant physical health challenges.

Trauma affects the body as well as the mind.

Some days felt impossible.

Yet healing happens one step at a time.

Recovery is not linear. There are good days and difficult days. Progress is not always visible.

But every step forward matters.

Things Nobody Talks About

Missing Your Trafficker

Survivors may miss the person who harmed them, especially when manipulation created emotional dependence.

Feeling Guilty

Many survivors blame themselves for things that were never their fault.

Chronic Illness After Trauma

Trauma can affect physical health and recovery in ways many people do not understand.

Learning To Trust Again

Rebuilding trust in yourself and others takes time.

Why I Share My Story

I share my story because awareness matters.

I share it because someone may recognize warning signs earlier.

I share it because survivors deserve to know they are not alone.

I share it because conversations create change.

And I share it because healing becomes more powerful when hope is passed on to someone else.

Faith & Hope

Throughout every chapter of my life, faith has been one of the things that carried me forward.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11
